I can not believe we are on the final days of our Sicilian road trip with the oldies! Having this time with them has been such a blessing! Plus, it’s Neal’s birthday and he gets his wish – spending it with his parents, so yeah in a state of gratitude. The sun is out, the sky is so blue, it is a beautiful day 👌
The décor of the restaurant was nay to shabby, patio doors / windows brought in all the sun shine and sea air and the open plan kitchen was also a nice touch. In addition to an a la carte menu, Votavota offer an easy tasting lunch menu (four courses + wine pairing) as well as an easy dinner tasting menu (5 courses + wine pairing). We opted for the easy lunch menu making it our third tasting menu with the oldies and they loved it ha!
Setting the tone of our lunch with a glass of bubbly of course, to celebrate the birthday boy

The amuse bouche was a variety of dishes consisting of ‘lollipop’, mini sandwiches which had a sweet and sharp ginger taste, a mini tray of entrees that had a cracker, croquette and of course cheesy focaccia which was really yummy!

our first course was a squid tomato juice – grilled squid, burrata cheese and ‘datterino’ tomato juice. One time for the colour though?

Equally interesting, it was a hot (the grilled squid) and cold (tomato sauce) dish. It also had bread crumbs which added texture, and the burrata giving it that creaminess – delish! The aroma from the red Prawn linguine in tonka bean when it was served?, OMD! I could not wait to tuck in!

Of course the cheesy focaccia came in handy for mopping up all that flavourful sauce 😋; you know waste not, want not! Tuna fish, charcoal onion and tzatziki sauce came next and I don’t know about you guys, but if your tuna isn’t looking like a steak🧐, have a word yeah?

For pudding we had Eggs colombo and I was not readyyyyy!!! This pudding is a darn fried egg 😮!

It was pistachio, almond and olive oil, orange gel for the and ricotta for the egg whites! I mean the pastry chef did a ting! It was warm, sweet, crunch! My goodness it was a delight on the palate! It definitely was my fave! The sweet petit fours was the perfect way to end the meal.

T’was a lovely birthday
